Nick has extensive experience in the higher education sector, having worked on major projects at St John’s, Selwyn, Magdalene, and Jesus colleges in Cambridge as well as for the University of Cambridge. He’s also worked on laboratory and research and development facilities.
As the leader of our Structural Engineering group in Cambridge, Nick has led the structural and civil engineering design teams for the construction of new holiday villages for Center Parcs at Elveden, Longleat, and Woburn in the UK and at Longford in Ireland. He has also been involved with large-scale commercial, retail, and housing developments in Cambridge and around the eastern region.
Nick’s broad experience of building projects, appreciation of current building technology, and understanding of the interdisciplinary co-ordination involved with a successful scheme allow him to identify the key factors in a project. He uses this knowledge to guide colleagues to the appropriate structural solutions at the early stages of a design.
When he isn’t working, Nick makes time to enjoy a pint of real ale and watch classic sci-fi films or to get out and experience the natural world. He and his wife both enjoy walking around local nature reserves and seeking out wildlife at home and abroad—which fits nicely with his wildlife photography hobby.
