Starting his career in public sector research and analysis roles focussed on labour markets and skills, Gareth then moved into consultancy. He’s managed and directed studies focussed on strategy development, funding support, economic impact assessment, and business case development across various thematic areas. These include education and skills, infrastructure, land use, transport, town centre regeneration, and rural and community led economic development.
Gareth has a particular interest in research and strategy studies aimed at securing public funding in locations where it’s needed to generate opportunities and growth. In recent years, he’s worked with local authorities to develop investment plans and business cases to secure funding from the UK Government’s Future High Streets Fund, Towns Fund, Levelling Up Fund, and Growth Deals.
When he isn’t helping local authorities obtain funding, Gareth enjoys keeping fit and watching football at any level. He also manages a grassroots girls’ football team.
