Stantec evolves early careers development programme to support consultancy talent

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has evolved its early careers development programme in the UK to create an invaluable offering for both graduates and apprentices. Backed by significant investment, the move follows extensive feedback and comes as part of Stantec’s commitment to nurture the next generation of built-environment consultants.

Stantec’s programme now provides both graduates and apprentices with extensive practical learning and development opportunities. The enhanced offering continues to support the three-year graduate experience, with apprentices now benefitting from an expanded five‑year development plan. The programme has been designed to balance academic study with workplace learning and professional growth.

An impact-led approach to career development
“Evolving our development programme into a highly experiential and interactive offering for both graduates and apprentices is a progressive step forward for us,” said Lea Field, head of talent engagement and career development and early careers lead at Stantec. “Through this inclusive approach, we’ll accelerate the development of our early careers talent into confident, capable, high-performing, and future-ready consultants.”

The redesigned programme features a blend of in-person national and regional events, immersive and experiential learning opportunities, as well as self-paced modules. All learning has been strategically contextualised to real-life consultancy scenarios. Participants complete the programme by working in interdisciplinary teams to present a research-based project to senior leadership, consolidating and showcasing their learning and impact.

Stantec’s approach fosters peer networking and collaboration, preparing early career professionals with the confidence, competence, and opportunities to support their journey toward professional accreditation, apprenticeship qualification, or chartership.
