Stantec, a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting, has appointed Andrew Brown as national discipline director for engineering and design in the United Kingdom and Ireland (UK&I).
Brown is a chartered civil engineer with nearly 25 years’ experience in the planning, design, and delivery of major highways and infrastructure projects. Having led interdisciplinary teams in senior roles across the UK and around the world, he joins Stantec from his most recent position as UK highways director at Pell Frischmann.
Based in Stantec’s recently expanded Manchester office, Brown joins Stantec’s national community development and transport teams, with a remit to support the design and delivery of transformational highways programmes for both public and private sector clients.
Over the last three decades, Brown has developed a wealth of experience around transport planning, active travel, major project delivery, public consultation, development consent orders, low carbon construction, and digital delivery. He actively serves as a representative for the Department for Transport on PIARC’s (The World Road Association) technical committees, sharing his insights and making the case for best practice with global industry leaders.
“Innovation, resilience, and sustainability must all be deeply embedded into community-driven transport schemes, and I’m proud to join a company where teams and clients are leading these efforts,” said Andrew Brown.
He continued: “I’ve always felt the best projects need to leave a positive legacy for communities, whether this is through better air quality, safer road networks, new amenities, or journey time reliability. At Stantec, I’ve already seen how we’re continually marrying cutting edge technology with the most creative approaches. We’re learning from each other to help redefine what’s possible for UK infrastructure.”
Nancy MacDonald, regional business leader for Infrastructure in the UK&I added: “It’s a fantastic time for Andrew to join Stantec. Our interdisciplinary teams are constantly uncovering new opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and market growth. His direction, extensive sector experience, and sector influence will be essential in helping us improve infrastructure networks across the country.”
