Doug leads the public transport (PT) planning practice across Australia and New Zealand which encompasses PT strategy, policy, business case development, network and service design, accessibility and infrastructure planning, demand analysis, fares and ticketing, procurement, and transit-oriented development. It spans all modes from bus to mass transit.
A specialist with more than 25 years’ professional experience, Doug can turn his hand to pretty much everything PT: one day he’s chatting to bus drivers and advising politicians and the next, doing spatial planning and economic analysis.
Working on the Dunedin PT Review was a project highlight for Doug, resulting in the most significant change to the city’s urban bus network in decades. His advice spanned everything from PT planning best practice approaches to post-implementation review.
He’s also proud of his business cases, which have justified significant investment in PT services and infrastructure around New Zealand.
Doug has been quoted as saying, “you only know if the grass is greener on the other side if you take a look!”
