A graduate planner and modeller, Wrik helps design and manage transport networks by using specialised software to help decision makers understand how travel demands such as congestion, travel time, and accessibility will impact their systems and set frameworks for future developments.
Wrik’s experienced in microsimulation traffic modelling—he looks at individual vehicle movements to assess traffic performance on New Zealand roads. Finding appropriate solutions to new and challenging transport issues is exciting for Wrik and he’s fulfilled by positively impacting community infrastructure. A project highlight? A safety assessment of the Gisborne transport network—Wrik helped conduct modelling to understand where new safety interventions could be included to help improve pedestrian safety. Raised speed tables, pedestrian crossings, and speed signs at roundabouts would assist in making roads safer for everyone.
A self-professed sports addict, Wrik keeps himself busy outside work supporting New Zealand teams and playing cricket.
