Wherever we go, we want to know that the ground we’re standing on is safe, with nothing posing a risk to our health or the natural world around us. That’s where Tess comes in. As a senior environmental scientist, she specialises in contaminated land, meticulously assessing whether former or current activities on a site have the potential to harm us or the environment.
With a keen focus on enabling soil reuse, Tess possesses specialist knowledge in both contaminated land practices and the impacts of waste legislation on landfilling. She thrives on delving into a site’s history to uncover past activities and understands the critical importance of remediating land impacted by previous use. One of her career highlights was in Samoa, where she provided comprehensive environmental monitoring including soil, sediment, and groundwater sampling, all while supporting the client’s critical operations in a stunning natural setting.
When she isn’t helping make the ground safer for all, Tess enjoys crafting and reading, and often heads to her favourite spot, Kohimarama Beach in Auckland, to unwind.
