Dams
Potecting our most precious resource
Dams are important to our communities. Not only do they store our water, but they provide flood mitigation during times of heavy rains—and supply water in seasons of drought.
With over 100 years of involvement in the engineering of major dams, we have a reputation for innovation and quality dams engineering. Our global experience spans across all types of dam safety assessments as well as the planning, design, and construction of new projects. With our in-house multi-disciplinary expertise, we can handle all aspects of dam project development, including assessing and addressing considerations for environmental impacts, sustainability, and climate change.
Stantec also has engineers and scientists experienced in the implementation of conventional dams, hydroelectric dams, and water resource projects—particularly in our specialisations in fill dams, concrete dams, and the more specialised roller-compacted concrete (RCC) dams.
Dam planning and detailed design work includes civil layout, geotechnical programs, stability analyses and remedial works. Our experience also includes a full suite of regulatory services, including the New Zealand Society on Large Dams (ANSOLD).
Planning a dam project? Look us up, we’re ready to help.
