Supporting communities to have clean and accessible water sources
The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) has contracted with Stantec to provide independent oversight of the technical and institutional aspects of the $354,757,640 Zambia compact to advance economic growth and reduce poverty in Zambia through specific infrastructure investments in the water supply, sanitation, and drainage sectors in and around Lusaka. Stantec is overseeing the activities of the Millennium Challenge Account - Zambia (MCA-Z) and the engineers and contractors implementing the program, which involves rehabilitation and expansion of existing infrastructure including water treatment, conveyance and distribution facilities, wastewater collection and treatment facilities, and stormwater drainage channels, as well as institutional capacity building support.
The Stantec team includes a variety of specialists with expertise in relevant matters including construction management, contract management, environmental management, social and gender impacts, resettlement, utility asset management, communications, and finance/economics. Services include review of numerous reports, program plans, and contract documents, and participation in periodic site visits to meet with MCA-Z representatives, their engineers and contractors, and other stakeholders to assess the progress of the works and identify and mitigate risks to successful program completion.
