Verizon’s regional headquarters features advanced MEP systems that conserve energy and help create a comfortable work environment
Most of us have to go outside to get some fresh air. Verizon employees just have to step inside the company’s regional headquarters. The four-story, regional headquarters features a fitness space, conference center, auditorium, cafeteria with indoor and outdoor dining spaces, and executive office space. The most important feature though is its advanced MEP systems (courtesy of our team).
Air-to-air heat recovery systems, ventilation control systems, stand-alone cooling systems, and a 1,500-kilowatt power generation system backing up 50% of the building’s load have all been carefully designed to provide excellent air circulation and increase energy efficiency within the building. For instance, the HVAC system is a 500-ton central-chilled water plant serving two air-handling units per floor. An added unit serves the kitchen spaces. Each unit receives fresh air from heat recovery systems which transfer energy between building exhaust and fresh-air flows. These flows are regulated to conserve more energy and maintain building pressure.
With this design-build project, Verizon is saving energy and creating a truly comfortable working environment.
