An essential infrastructure improvement to enhance mobility, provide safer passage, and support economic growth
Significant population growth in Contra Costa County, California, was causing congestion along State Route 4 (SR4)—specifically through downtown Oakley and Brentwood. The existing u-turn was wreaking havoc for drivers, and there wasn’t enough access to the growing suburbs. The solution? Direct ramp access to make convenient connections between SR4 and SR160. The overall interchange improvement project will feature sound wall extensions, retaining walls, and three new bridges.
As a sub-consultant to Rajappan & Meyer Consulting Engineers Inc., our team delivered final design and construction support for the two-lane NB160 viaduct bridge, spanning 357 feet over an existing UPRR railroad. This essential infrastructure improvement will enhance mobility, provide safer passage, and support economic growth for the communities of Antioch, Oakley, and Brentwood.
