Transforming a dormant power plant into an exciting new mixed-use redevelopment
The old Seaholm Power Plant had been dormant a long time—until now. This historical building, located near Lady Bird Lake in the heart of downtown Austin, Texas, was about to get a second life as part of an exciting mixed-use redevelopment.
The Seaholm Power Plant Redevelopment project called for renovating the landmark Seaholm Power Plant, developing a new high-rise multi-family residence and a new office building, and creating a three-story underground parking garage that serves the plant and office building. Our engineering experts collaborated with the project’s architectural design team on the site development; handling the municipal permitting, and providing public roadway, water quality, and utility infrastructure designs. The team also took extra care to maintain the power plant’s historic features through a design review process involving the Texas Historical Commission and City of Austin.
With our team’s infrastructure and design expertise, our client preserved the past in the present, and more importantly, created a thriving place for the community to enjoy well into the future.
