Benefitting Hobart, Oklahoma with clean energy for 45,000 homes and an economic boost to the community
Clean energy for 45,000 homes and an economic boost to the community – that’s the benefit of the Rocky Ridge Wind Farm. Located in Southwest Oklahoma, 123 new turbines provide clean power to customers throughout Oklahoma and surrounding states, all on just a few hundred acres. This is good news for consumers, and it’s even better for landowners and local communities, who earn over $3 million every year.
The project included civil design for GE XLE 1.6 megawatt turbines and 18.5 miles of access roads. Geotechnical services included exploratory boreholes, and our structural engineers performed turbine foundation analysis and design, as well as 6.5 miles of a 138 kilovolt single circuit steel pole structure of variable heights. Stantec provided interconnect engineering services for the developer and supported negotiations for the 138 kilovolt interconnect. We also designed the 138 to 34.5 kilovolt, 150 megawatt collector substation. Design of the collector system included system studies, 34.5 kilovolt feeder design, equipment and construction specifications and testing procedures, control system including communications, Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA), protective relay setting, and testing.
