Finding Philips a home in the innovation center of Cambridge, Massachusetts

As a contributor to the biotech, pharma, and healthcare fields, it was important for Philips to find a home in the innovation ecosystem of Cambridge, Massachusetts, adjacent to MIT, a prestigious campus boosting access to talent and the latest innovative ideas.

Relocating staff from traditional R&D labs in Briarcliff Manor, New York, the new 50,000 square foot location features open, collaborative workspaces and secure lab areas for each group. Private offices were eliminated in favor of an open plan designed with height adjustable 120° stations and small meeting and huddle rooms.

The new space facilitates research synergies with renowned academic partners like MIT while removing the hierarchy of a private workspace and promoting collaboration between researchers. Shared amenities include reception, meeting areas, and video conferencing rooms. A combined café and multipurpose space encourage internal gatherings and larger events.
