Bringing increased solar power to Alabama

When our client set out to meet new sustainability goals by creating a large solar energy facility, our team was there to help.

Our job? Before the project could get underway, we needed to complete a natural resources report per regulations outlined by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). We also assisted with a cultural resources Phase I site assessment and survey. The project conformed with guidelines under the TVA for conducting biological and cultural surveys and impact analysis on approximately 2,474 acres and along an existing 161-kilovolt (kV) transmission line. Our team performed various services, including formal aquatic and wildlife surveys and reports of the Indiana and Northern long-eared bat summer roosting surveys and formal wetland and waterbody delineations. Our team also consulted with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District to prepare and receive an Approved Jurisdictional Determination for Section 404 Waters at the project site. In addition, our archaeologists assisted with the Phase I survey that required both pedestrian and 30-meter shovel testing and hand auguring.

With construction now complete, this project is generating 647 megawatts of clean, renewable energy every year.
