Planning an addition at Nevada's largest geothermal power plant
Three hours east of Reno, Nevada is the state’s largest geothermal power generation facility—the Dixie Valley Geothermal Power Plant—producing more than 67 megawatts. We were involved in the original plant design in 1988. With more than 30 years of geothermal industry experience, we were selected by Terra-Gen Power, LLC to design a plant addition.
This augmentation featured two of our proprietary geothermal brine separators—a design that we created to meet the difficulties of separating geothermal resources. These designs helped to provide steam for an additional four megawatts of clean, low-cost, renewable power to Southern California Edison, permitting California to meet the 33 percent renewable portfolio standard.
