Helping develop and maintain a wind farm with 111 turbines on 14,000 acres in eastern Kansas
Caney River Wind Farm harnesses the potential of one off the most energetic sites in Kansas, providing enough clean power to run 60,000 homes. Our engineers worked on all aspects of the project. Civil engineers helped prepare the sites and access roads; geotechnical staff drilled exploratory boreholes at turbines locations; and our structural engineers provided turbine foundation analysis and design.
We also designed the 345-34.5 kV, 200 MW Collector Substation including Site Work, Physical and Electrical Design, Procurement and Construction Specifications, Testing Procedures and Operations and Maintenance Manuals. Design of the Collector System included System Studies, 34.5 kV Feeder Design, Equipment and Construction Specifications and Testing Procedures, Control System including Communications, SCADA, Protective Relay Setting and Testing.
All our projects are designed to benefit their communities, but this project goes one step further. Not only does it provide much-needed payments to farmers, it increases local revenues by 50%, allowing the county to spend more on programs and services for its citizens.
