Lynn Lake Gold Mine
From the 1950s to 1980s, Lynn Lake thrived as a remote mining town until which point mining operations largely ceased. Nearly 10 years ago, Canadian gold mining company Alamos Gold acquired the Lynn Lake project and quickly identified it as one of Canada’s highest-grade open pit gold deposits. Construction on the mining project was announced in January 2025. Alamos will construct, operate, and then close and reclaim the two mines. They engaged our team to help.
As Alamos’ environmental engineering services partner, we completed baseline environmental studies, supported a feasibility assessment, and helped the project obtain federal and provincial approval. Within our work, we engaged with 14 Indigenous Nations to incorporate Traditional Knowledge in project planning and provide opportunity for Indigenous participation.
The first major resource development to be permitted in Manitoba since 2014, it will have a substantial positive social and economic effect on Lynn Lake, surrounding Indigenous Nations, and northern Manitoba as a whole. We remain involved with environmental management and monitoring plans and fieldwork in support of construction, as well as permitting support for future operations.
