On track to moving freight safely and efficiently
Special Activation Precincts are world-class, sustainable business hubs that create jobs and fuel economic development. Parkes is the first Special Activation Precinct announced for regional New South Wales, situated in a unique location at the only junction of the new Inland Rail and the Trans-Australian Railway—home to the National Logistics Hub.
As part of the precinct’s construction and delivery phase, we provided design and construction services for upgrading 7.3 kilometres (4.5 miles) of road, including local access roads and railway crossings. Two grade separated crossings were constructed on the Australian Rail Track Corporation owned and maintained rail lines. The two crossing bridges, 53.7 (176 feet) and 38 metres (125 feet) respectively, cross existing rail lines and comprise weathering steel trough girders, super T girders, reinforced concrete abutments, bored piles, and reinforced concrete soil walls.
Once complete, the upgraded roads and new crossings will allow freight to move efficiently and safely to and from Parkes, and onward into the rest of Australia.
