With over 30 years of experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and delivering innovative, cost-effective solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, Elvio offers a proven track-record of on-schedule and within-budget projects while accounting for the long-term operational needs of his clients. His inspiration? A client’s opening question of “Could you design it better?”
Elvio was the project manager for the Grand Bend Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is the first wastewater treatment plant—globally—to earn the ISI Envision® Platinum award for environmental sustainability. Also, he was the project manager for a complex retrofit of the Oxford Pollution Control Plant using membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology. This was the largest full-retrofit MBR project for cold-weather application in North America and received an award of excellence from the Association of Canadian Engineering Companies Canada.
His next project? A full-scale retrofit of the Barrie, Ontario, wastewater treatment plant using MBR technology. The WwTF Upgrade Program will produce one of the most advanced facilities of its kind in North America, significantly advancing the City’s ability to maintain safe and reliable wastewater treatment while providing environmental protection of Lake Simcoe. To support a growing population, the project will increase the WwTF capacity to 96 million litres per day (MLD) by 2041 from its current rated capacity of 76 MLD and will include the class environmental assessment for an ultimate capacity of 150 MLD.
