Chiew plays a number of roles in our water business sector. As a principal process engineer, he specializes in the design of wastewater treatment and water recycling facilities. He also acts as a design manager, overseeing the delivery of treatment plant projects—generally from design and construction to the commissioning of assets.
As a specialist in water recycling and brine treatment, Chiew recently worked on an integrated water cycle project for Googong, a new town near the Australian capital city of Canberra. The goal? Enhance water resiliency by reducing the town’s water consumption by 50–60%. When the project is completed, this work will also help the community by drought proofing the inland township.
If you catch Chiew outside of work, he might be spending his free time playing basketball or soccer—or coaching his son’s soccer team. “I really enjoy guiding a group of youngsters and helping them improve as a team.”
