Richard chose to work with dams because he was fascinated by the importance they have in society and the knowledge and skill required to manage them. Dams bring clean water and energy to millions of people worldwide, but they are assets that need dedicated and skilful professionals to design, construct, and maintain them throughout their life span.
As a chartered principal dam engineer and reservoir supervising engineer, Richard has worked on dams for multiple clients, helping shape the future of those structures for the benefit of their communities. His career in dams has given him insight to many of the factors that can affect dam safety as well as solving the problems that arise along the way.
When he isn’t working on dams, Richard keeps busy with his family. In his spare time, he takes to the hills, either on foot or on by bike, often seeking out a route by reservoir or dam.
