Matthew is a designer with nearly two decades of experience in people-first transportation engineering, peer leadership, and quick-build implementation. He believes in making streets work for cities by creating safe multimodal solutions.
Prior to joining our team, Matthew was the technical lead at the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) where he led street design work across North America. There, he also served as technical editor for design guidance and co-wrote the Transit Street Design Guide, the Making Transit Count toolkit, and an edition of the Urban Bikeway Design Guide. He also worked for the New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) and helped create their Pedestrian Safety Action Plan, which resulted in the redesign of dozens of miles of major streets.
When he isn’t busy improving the safety of how we get around, Matthew enjoys slow bike rides with his family, overly complex board games, and visiting new neighborhoods.
