With 61% of Alaska under federal ownership, the permitting process can be a challenge—that’s where Steve comes in. By working with our environmental team, he helps find solutions to these challenges and helps our clients begin developing their projects.
Consider the Donlin Gold project. Having worked on the project since 2005, Steve finally received Section 404 Wetland Permits after years of wetland delineation and vegetation field work, mapping, reports, and permitting support. It’s projects like this that make him a sought-after partner for clients. Steve also leads teams conducting natural resource baseline and permitting work for small retail developments to larger transportation, mining, and pipeline projects. A US Army Veteran, Steve was the former environmental manager at Fort Wainwright, conducting wildlife surveys, recreation management, reclamation and remediation work, and fisheries and wildlife management.
Outside of work, Steve enjoys exploring Alaska. In summer he is kayaking, fishing, and hunting. In winter, he travels the frozen rivers and tundra by snowmobile.
