For over 30 years, Andreas has worked on consulting structural engineering, focusing on civil structures and associated civil works. His projects have involved residential, industrial, and commercial multi-story office buildings, shopping centers, and unit developments including significant exposure to tilt-up concrete wall construction.
Andreas is passionate about developing design solutions from first principles. He thrives on unusual or out of the ordinary projects where there’s no set or predictable solution—he enjoys the opportunity to test his ingenuity and find workable options. An example? Designing a blade weir sound curtain for Newport Waterway Lock and Weir. The curtain needed to seal the spillway zone yet have longevity and provide flexibility during flow events. The solution? A curtain made of industrial conveyor belts joined in strips hanging from a steel framed gantry.
When he isn’t working on civil structures and developments, Andreas enjoys spending time with the family and their dogs outdoors—especially at the beach. On the weekends, you’ll also find him and his wife on a ballroom dance floor doing their best waltzes, foxtrots, and even a few rumbas.
