Underground utilities, or subsurface utilities, have a passionate advocate in Bruce who’s worked in the field for over two decades. Applying his considerable experience with subsurface utility engineering, public utility plant design, and construction management has given him a well-rounded knowledge of civil engineering design, utility engineering design, and civil construction. He’s written numerous articles and currently serves with the AS5488 committee—the Australian Standard for Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE).
Bruce’s deep understanding of the associated impacts that a design may have on existing utilities leads to assigning utility risk and mitigation strategies, creation of utility surveys, identifying utility clashes, and safety and design considerations. In coordination with design and construction teams, he has worked on a wide range of notable projects that include Brisbane Metro and Brisbane’s Airport Link.
In his spare time, Bruce loves indulging as a home theatre enthusiast. On weekends you can find him socializing with family and friends or at home with DIY projects.
