In his work, Dr. Peterson focuses on the use of bat acoustic detectors to study bat migration and manage risk to bats from onshore and offshore wind projects. He leads our EchoPitch team, which uses acoustic data to design and evaluate smart curtailment strategies that balance renewable energy generation and bat protection at wind energy facilities.
Trevor is also a subject matter expert and technical lead for acoustic bat surveys. He has supported a wide range of projects for over 20 years including vernal pool water quality and ecological monitoring, spotted turtle inventory and telemetry, vegetation monitoring, and various surveys related to bats, breeding birds, and raptors.
Away from work, Trevor prioritizes time outdoors with his wife and two daughters. He’s also never short on hobbies. As an avid multi-instrument musician, he plays violin in the Midcoast Symphony Orchestra and fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and piano in multiple bands and ensembles.
