Martin has built a career on the safe and efficient movement of people. For him, the most important part of a major event or transport plan is that people can get to, from, and around a destination smoothly and safely. He believes that the entire spectator experience is key. People remember an event—be it sport, music, or entertainment—by the whole experience, starting from the moment they leave their front door.
Crowd modelling is Martin’s forte, supporting his broader focus on event transport, people movement, and crowd management. He has a unique, holistic outlook that comes from having both planning and hands-on operational experience, including delivering two Olympic Games. A particular highlight for Martin was spending two years in Brazil planning and delivering services for the 2016 Olympic Games.
Martin’s experience doesn’t stop there—he even understands an athlete’s perspective at major events having represented New Zealand internationally in orienteering and adventure racing, two of his favourite activities.
