With nearly 40 years of experience consulting with utilities on drinking water, wastewater, and water reuse treatment and facility planning, Doug’s work encompasses over 7 billion gallons per day (BGD) of treatment capacity. He currently serves as our program manager for the City of San Diego’s Pure Water Program, a premier potable reuse program.
Doug has provided technical and facilitation support to the Environmental Protection Agency and American Water Works Association on a range of policy issues since 1990, including regulatory development, advanced technology implementation, and utility compliance. He has served on the Executive Committee for the Water Research Foundation, Water Environment and Reuse Foundation, and the WateReuse Research Foundation, and on advisory boards for several universities across the United States. Doug has also published widely on water treatment and planning in books, peer-reviewed journals, and at conferences.
Outside of work, Doug spends his time hiking, cooking, and volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.
