A geotechnical engineer with over 42 years of experience coordinating and managing multidisciplinary projects, Jim currently provides senior technical review on several of our major tailing dam and water storage dam projects all over the world. He also serves on independent technical review boards for mining and water resource clients.
Jim has worked on every aspect of the full lifecycle of a mine, from site selection to post-closure. As an expert in centerline-method tailing and sand dam design, construction, and operation, Jim recently served as project manager for the detail design and construction of the Quebrada Enlozada Tailing Storage Facility (TSF) and as the principal-in-charge for the Quebrada Linga TSF at the Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde Mine near Arequipa, Peru. As operations continue, Jim serves as the engineer of record for both of these TSFs.
In the mining industry, projects are designed and constructed on aggressive schedules. For Jim, it’s particularly fulfilling that his designs are put into operation quickly, immediately working to fulfill client needs. With his work on worldwide projects, Jim is a natural traveler for pleasure as well. So far, Africa and New Zealand are he and his wife’s favorites to visit, but if Jim is at home, he might be fly fishing in the Rocky Mountains, playing bridge, or spending time with his three sons and their families.
