On the surface, every project appears about the same. Oliver has over 34 years of experience designing environmental infrastructures, bridges, culverts, buildings, and specialized structures in a variety of materials. And in those years, he’s realized that—of course—every project has its own difficulties and challenges. It’s from tackling those projects and solving their problems that Oliver gets the most satisfaction.
Throughout his career, Oliver has also had considerable experience in construction inspection. He knows the ins and outs of concrete, steel, waterproofing, and cofferdams. He also participates in structural condition surveys and evaluations for bridges, tunnels, dams, and buildings.
One piece of advice that Oliver likes to share with new engineers is that starting your career with field inspection can give you great experience. “It broadens your horizons and helps you to design practically.” Outside of work, Oliver loves to travel, spend time with his family, and keep up to date with old friends.
