Alastair brings a wide perspective to passenger transport consultancy with first-hand experience gained in bus company management as well as on projects for bus operators and transport authorities. His career has also taken him to projects in the sectors of land development, health, and education.
His specialist areas of expertise are public transport strategy, bus service planning, and viability analysis. Notable projects include the East Sussex Supported Bus Strategic Commissioning Strategy (which saved £1.4 million on a budget of £2.5 million) and the Shetland Islands Passenger Transport Business Case (which saved 10% of the annual £5 million budget for local bus, education, and adult social care transport).
Other recent experience includes negotiation of bus service proposals for a major residential development at the former USAF air base at Upper Heyford, student travel analysis for Cambridge and Edinburgh universities, review of non-emergency patient transport for NHS Dumfries & Galloway, and advice to Transport Scotland on low emission bus initiatives.
