Based in Edmonton, Melanie has been a geographic information system (GIS) specialist with the Environmental Services team since 2014. She has expertise in AutoCAD and drawing quality control and brings over a decade of work experience in Germany, where she focused on waste and wastewater management, emissions measurement, noise surveys, and environmental monitoring.
In her position, Melanie manages spatial data, performs geospatial analyses, and prepares maps and drawings for diverse environmental disciplines. She is known for her passion for lifelong learning—as a working mother of two young children, Melanie balances her work and family life while doing online classes at night. She recently completed her master’s degree in environmental practice and is now working on a graduate certificate in climate change.
Depending on the season, one can find Melanie climbing, snowboarding, riding her motorcycle, and when she gets the chance, scuba diving. At home, she spends her time gardening and doing DIY projects.
