Restoring or maintaining natural ecosystems is a complex undertaking from the planning stage to implementation, where Joshua provides the skills and knowledge needed to shape an ecosystem to specification. Joshua supervises and implements fieldwork for ecological restoration projects. This can involve applying restricted herbicides in sensitive ecotypes including wetlands and high-quality prairies, or other restoration techniques such as tree/brush removal, erosion control installation, and native plant installation and maintenance.
Joshua is a licensed commercial pesticide applicator in Illinois and a certified prescribed burn manager through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. In addition to conducting fieldwork, he also manages projects, and communicates with clients. He has a strong connection to nature, and he previously worked as a restoration technician for The Nature Conservancy and Frankfort Square Park District.
Outside of work, Joshua enjoys martial arts, reading, and playing board games with friends.
