Steffen has over 12 years of experience in geotechnical/materials engineering and testing. He’s worked in both the private consultant and public sectors—most often as a civil engineer. His experience includes field work, project management, coordination of quality control/assurance, field construction review, materials testing, and geotechnical investigations.
After managing the Edmonton Materials Testing Laboratory for several years then overseeing the Geotechnical and Field Construction Review and Materials Testing groups in Edmonton, he is now starting a new adventure in the Yellowknife office. In addition to standard testing services, he’s been involved in advanced testing and condition assessments using half-cell testing, ground-penetrating radar, and remote-operated vehicles—mainly for concrete EPCOR water retention structures in Edmonton, such as the Rossdale, E.L Smith, and Papachase sites.
In his spare time, Steffen enjoys exploring Canada with his family: camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting. Remembering his roots, he makes time to take his family to Germany, where he’s from. He also volunteers as a Troop Scouter with his local Scouts Canada organization.
