As our technical leader in the Perth office, David assists and advises our project teams—particularly in proposals and reporting. He leads our Australian business development efforts with Chevron, and with the Australian oil and gas industry in general. His technical focuses are mostly around restoration ecology, soil science, and site closure, particularly in the development of completion criteria as a basis for successful site closure and relinquishment.
What he really aims to do though, is stimulate innovation in operations. Recently, his work on that front has included remote sensing and eDNA. In partnership with Chevron, David has led the development of vegetation remote sensing on Barrow Island. He’s collaborated with Stantec scientists from around the world to apply a system that classifies and measures vegetation presence in natural and restored areas. This method improves both accuracy and field team safety while allowing larger areas to be monitored.
When he isn’t at work, David spends time with his three daughters and twin grandsons. He’s also embarked on a lifetime of landscaping at his piece of land “down south.”
