Known for generating long-term ties of trust with our clients, Gonzalo leads multiple geotechnical, geological, and hydrogeological research campaigns for large mining projects in Chile. As a senior geotechnical engineer, he has over two decades of experience that he brings to each project. His expertise lies in design, construction, and operation studies of tailings deposits and their associated works.
Gonzalo is experienced in mineral processing plant foundations, leaching piles, and linear works. He also leads geotechnical and hydrogeological research campaigns in tailings projects and engineering studies to support environmental impact assessments and sector permits. A rewarding project that stands out for him was a tailings dam in the Antofagasta Desert in Chile—a project with multiple challenges that allowed the implementation of our construction quality assurance services.
When he’s not working with his teams or teaching the next generation of geotechnical engineers, Gonzalo is passionate about running, a sport that he’s practiced for years. To date, he’s participated in half marathon competitions, and his next challenge is to run the Santiago marathon.
