With the advent of electric vehicles, the increasing role of electricity from renewables, and applications of smart-grid technologies, Ashraf feels he is in the right place and time as a supervising engineer working with power industry clients. Ashraf has over 20 years of experience in power systems planning, modelling, and studies, including steady-state and transient analysis.
Known as an innovative thinker, Ashraf has published more than 35 papers on topics such as renewable energy forecasting, electricity price forecasting, and synthetic inertia. He also developed an hourly wind forecasting tool based on a combination of signal processing and artificial intelligence, which is now functional and being used by a system operator in North America. Dedicated to building his skills, he has received certification as a Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute.
In his free time, Ashraf enjoys playing chess, fishing, and spending time with his kids.
