As a child, Daniel always wanted to be like his father, a surveyor, who shared his work instruments and plans with his curious son. Now, Daniel brings his background in soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering to his leadership role on our Geotechnical team in Chile. He has extensive experience in mining consulting related to tailings dams—specializing in design and construction of drainage systems, filter design, infiltration analysis, stability analysis by limit equilibrium, and dynamic deformation analysis.
Working to design complex engineering solutions with other Stantec teams from around the globe, Daniel enjoys the design and construction of massive earthworks. He’s passionate about designing drainage systems in tailings dams and the design of their filter and drain systems. His most rewarding project so far is a detailed engineering project for one of the largest copper mines in the world.
In addition to working with soil mechanics, Daniel enjoys another kind of rock—he’s played in a rock band called Baikonur for many years. But his greatest joy and driving force is seeing his family happy.
