Senior Fisheries Biologist

Photo of Greg

Greg is a federally permitted malacologist specializing in Upper Mississippi River basin species, from small headwater streams up to large riverine systems. His primary role includes leading field crews and supporting marketing and business development opportunities in the region.

With over 15 years of experience, Greg has led numerous mussel surveys and relocation efforts for a variety of infrastructure projects and navigating the formal consultation process under Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act. A notable example is the Highway 130 Bridge Replacement Project, where Greg led the relocation of more than 1,800 mussels, including state and federally listed species. He also oversaw the development and installation of habitat structures for a candidate species, the salamander mussel.

When he’s not busy helping protect underwater species, Greg enjoys backcountry backpacking adventures, baking bread, or checking out a new restaurant.
