In her storied career as a geologist and hydrogeologist, Dawn has focused on the prevention of environmental impacts—the backbone of responsible and sustainable mining. She loves the broad, multidisciplinary nature of mine closure planning that incorporates the entire life cycle of the mine and values the holistic approach of both closure planning and public disclosure reporting. Most known for her work on mine closures, due diligence, and public disclosure reporting, she enjoys seeing different mine sites and working internationally.
Dawn’s very involved in the promotion of geology as a profession and serves as the current president of the American Institute of Professional Geologists—an organization that provides professional certification of geologists and advocates for the geologic profession before government and the general public.
Geology is both a career and a hobby to Dawn! She enjoys traveling to places with great geology and is planning a trip to Iceland. Books, movies, animals, food, hiking, and music are other passions she finds easy to combine into the same block of leisure time.
