Joel feels fortunate to pursue a profession that reflects his affinity for the land, nature, and plants. As assistant business unit manager of our Native Plant Nursery, Joel oversees the production of our container stock and seed production. Prior to working with native plants, he worked in the conventional agricultural crop industry. While many processes and cultivation techniques are similar, the native plant sector represents a different mindset that Joel appreciates for its focus on mitigating invasive species, and its role in land and wetland restoration projects.
Native plants aren’t the only thing Joel cultivates. He has great confidence and pride in his production team and their resources. With their talents and dedication, the Native Plant Nursey team can partner with clients before and after any project as a valuable information resource. And just as in business where you only get one chance to succeed, as Joel describes it, they only get one chance a year to grow a crop—so it needs to thrive.
Work follows Joel home where his family has an 80 acre farm, which they have spent years restoring back to native habitat. Away from work, and the farm, Joel and his family love the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. His personal go to spot—the golf course.
