Alan has over 27 years of experience in the utility industry. His approach is focused on building high-performing teams that deliver sustainable improvements and value for clients. Alan has undertaken commercial, financial, project, and engineering roles in the UK, Thailand, and Cyprus. He’s a chartered management accountant and chartered mechanical engineer, holds an MBA, and is a member/fellow of several professional institutions.
As finance director, Alan currently leads the business transformation of the Finance function within the Drainage Networks Operations and Maintenance Department of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) in Qatar, with an annual operating budget of USD200M. Alan was also a key team member leading completion of the sale of the United Utilities non-regulated business to Veolia Water UK (transaction value GBP174M, 2010).
He has extensive experience in business planning and performance management. At United Utilities plc, his responsibilities included the monitoring and control of the GBP3.3Bn capital investment program 2005 to 2010 and development of the efficiency plan for the GBP3.6Bn capital investment program 2010 to 2015.
