As a director of our national Development Economics team, James is responsible for making the economic case for development. He leads the production of development need, social value, impact analysis, and strategies to maximize local value added at site search, land promotion, planning application, and appeal stages.
James’ experience spans a diverse range of development proposals including industrial and logistics, low carbon and renewable energy, specialist housing, and new settlements to which he applies an equally broad range of analytical techniques. These include appraisal and impact assessment methods and valuing the benefits of key development outcomes such as example natural capital, reduced emissions, health, and wellbeing.
James also regularly participates in local plan examinations and as an expert witness at S78 planning appeals.
