With a broad range of experience in civil and process engineering design and construction, Derek appreciates working on projects that improve quality of life. Focusing on municipal engineering project management and client service, Derek is experienced in water and wastewater design and construction, including hydraulic analysis, wet weather planning, and combined sewer overflows. He also has a proven history of success with industrial projects.
Derek is particularly proud of the Toledo Waterways Initiative Downtown Storage Basin project, which involves taking a previously trash-ridden site and constructing a combined sewer overflow storage basin and pump station. After restoration, the site will include a bike path, public seating, and a local-zoo developed wild flowers mix. He looks forward to the day when his kids are playing at the site and the Maumee River is cleaner because of the project.
Outside of work, Derek stays busy with his wife and young children, home improvement projects, and being outdoors as much as possible. As for his next challenge? Coaching tee-ball for kids aged three to five.
