Roy is a dedicated professional specializing in performing geological and geotechnical risk assessment. With a focus on investigating site hazards, he plays a crucial role in communicating risks to project teams, aiding in effective mitigation strategies. His work spans transportation, three waters (wastewater, stormwater, and drinking water), and community development projects. He contributes to vital infrastructure projects including parks and recreational spaces that help keep communities functioning and resilient.
Notably, Roy has been instrumental in responding to several large emergency events, investigating landslides, and applying insights to future hazards. A standout project is the Marlborough Sounds Future Access Study, where he developed a comprehensive multi-hazard assessment for a 500-kilometre (311-mile) rural road network impacted by flooding.
Outside of his geological work, Roy enjoys coaching volleyball and exploring the alpine walks of Nelson Lakes National Park. A passionate supporter of rugby union team Tasman Mako, he embodies a commitment to both professional excellence and community engagement.
