A senior structural engineer, Shadia has experience designing a wide range of projects including bridges, multi-story buildings, and structures made from steel and precast, post tensioned, or reinforced concrete. For bridge projects, Shadia has developed varying concept, tender, and detailed designs of multi-span prestressed concrete plank and Super-T road bridges, as well as steel pedestrian bridges. She has also undertaken load rating assessments and Level 2 inspections of various existing multi-span road bridges.
One of Shadia’s projects involved the historic Wheelers Bridge located in Creswick. Built in 1900 to provide access across Birch Creek Gorge, the arch bridge required strengthening and updates to reinstate the two traffic lanes. As lead structural engineer and project manager, Shadia was involved in the detailed design entailing stress analysis of existing and proposed arches.
Outside of work, Shadia enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking, and traveling.
