As co-leader of our Alberta Education team, Heather brings extensive experience in K-12 architectural design to the practice. She begins all school projects by listening to the school board’s philosophy and vision. Her belief? Good architecture results from clear communication.
Heather’s designs represent their school cultures and surrounding contexts while catering to a variety of curriculums including sciences, arts, and trades. She feels that each school is unique and should represent its community, so she ensures that her design elements express those features.
As a participating member of the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE), and a thought leader in designing for 21st century learning, Heather is continually researching new methods of teaching and learning. As a LEED® accredited professional, she feels that integrated design process in the early stages of a project is critical to the success of a sustainable project.
If she isn’t at work, you might find Heather volunteering as a cub scout leader. Her group of active cub scouts love to learn, and they teach Heather about nature and the outdoors just as much as she teaches them!
