Photo of Rachael

Rachael began her path towards becoming an engineer as a five-year-old child. Standing inside a Kaplan turbine unit that was under maintenance, she was struck with an idea of what she wanted to become. Now, she considers it a privilege to contribute to the same industry that first sparked her interest in engineering—and to actually understand what a Kaplan turbine unit is!

A geotechnical engineer with domestic and international experience, Rachael has focused on the analysis, design, and construction of hydroelectric projects and dam safety modifications. She specializes in performing risk analyses to assess dam safety and contribute to risk informed decision-making. Working collaboratively with owners, she enjoys helping to improve understanding and management of dam safety risk.

When Rachael’s not working with water conveyance clients, she enjoys encouraging students to explore their curiosities through engineering—contributing to the development of young professionals. In her spare moments, she loves spending time with family and enjoys the great outdoors.
