Bridge inspections are certainly not for the faint of heart—but for Joel, they’re second nature. With no room for a fear of heights, Joel has risen to the occasion (both literally and figuratively), inspecting of some of the Tri-State area’s most premier bridges—including the George Washington, Robert F. Kennedy and the new Bayonne Bridges. During his 25 years of in-depth and biennial bridge inspections as a senior bridge engineer, inspection team leader, and project engineer, he has amassed a number of valuable takeaways and lessons learned, given the differences in each structure.
To Joel, hands-on bride inspection of experience is valuable for young engineers who are beginning their careers in the industry. When a client relays their gratitude to Joel for identifying and reporting on a dangerous or unsafe condition, it further enforces the mindset he has adopted regarding his work—that providing a safe passage for the public is his number one priority.
